Aseptic Techniques Refresher Course

A refresher course designed for pharmacists and technicians who prepare sterile products.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the pharmacist should be able to:

  1. Explain the proper mixing and handling of parental drugs.
  2. Discuss parenteral drug therapy delivery systems.
  3. Discuss/demonstrate the use of a laminar flow hood.
  4. Determine compatibilities and stabilities of intravenous admixtures.
  5. Safely prepare/handle chemotherapeutic agents.
  6. Explain the basic concepts of electrolyte balance in parenteral nutrition products.
  7. Explain the basic goals in fluid, electrolyte, and acid-based balance.
  8. Explain TSBP Rules concerning aseptic techniques and technician supervision.
  9. Comply with USP Chapter <797> standards for preparation, storage, and administration of compounded sterile products.

Who Should Attend

This program is intended for pharmacists and technicians who desire to refresh their knowledge of aseptic techniques and the compounding of intravenous medication, cytotoxic and hazardous drugs. Topics will also include basic principles of parenteral nutrition and fluid and electrolyte balance, venous access devices, and determining intravenous admixture compatibilities.

Cancellation Notice: Insufficient registrations will cause this program to be cancelled.
Refund Policy: A 90% refund will be granted for written cancellation seven days in advance.
