Who Should Attend


This program is intended for health professionals who desire to increase their knowledge of the latest developments in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy.

Objectives


Upon completion of the program, the health professional should be able to:

1. Outline an approach to treatment infections caused by multi-drug resistant organisms.
2. Discuss the current issues on regarding outpatient management of anti-infectives in cancer patients.
3. Discuss therapeutic dilemmas in the management of HIV patients.
4. Discuss specific treatment plans for the emerging infectious diseases.
5. Discuss the management of C. difficile associate diarrhea.
6. Outline an approach to the treatment of bacterial meningitis.

Contiuning Education


The University of Houston College of Pharmacy (UHCOP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing education. Pharmacists documenting completion of the program “Infectious Disease Pharmacotherapy Symposium 2009” (#066-000-09-002-L01-P) by signing in, passing posttest and completing evaluations will receive 6 contact hours (0.6 CEUs) pharmacy continuing education credit, and will receive a statement of credit by mail within 3 weeks of UHCOP being notified of the completion date. Initial release date: May 1, 2009. Expiration date: May 1, 2012.

Financial Support

Various pharmaceutical firms help support the Symposium.
Formal acknowledgement will be done at the Symposium. Vendors and participant fees help support the operation of the UH Anti-infective Labs.

Registration

Registration is via mail only and must be received by April 24, 2009. There is no on-site registration. Registration fee includes program materials, meals
(breakfast, lunch, and breaks), and CEUs.

Cancellation

Notification by April 20 and subject to a $25 administrative charge.
